Nicanor Torre

Director for Programs

Nicanor Torre has been with the Foundation for 20 years.  As Director for Programs, he supervises a team of program officers, specialists and support staff and provides the day to day management of all the programs and projects of the foundationHe is at the helm of maintaining CF’s program and organizational standards as well as its collaborative relationships with its partner organizations, contractors, services providers and communities.

At Consuelo Foundation, Nic directly managed the projects funded by corporate donors, such as Microsoft’s Young Minds in Motion, Alcatel’s eSkills Project and the YES Project of Wrigleys. Nic was also responsible for starting the World Bank-funded Philippine Out-of-School Children and Youth Project. All these projects focused on providing better education and training opportunities, as well as employment and livelihood to thousands of marginalized youth in the Philippines. Nic’s interest in holistic interventions has encouraged and led CF partners to engage in social enterprises and income generating ventures that are now contributing to the self-sufficiency of project participants and the financial sustainability of many of CF’s partners organizations.

Prior to his employment with Consuelo Foundation, Nic was the Project Director of Bagong Paglaom, a child sponsorship program in the Province of Albay supported by the Kansas-based Children International. Nic has also worked with the Economic Development Foundation and was the Team Leader in the USAID-funded feasibility study on the establishment of the Agro-Industrial Development Areas (AIDA) in six provinces in the country.

Nic holds bachelor’s degrees in Philosophy, cum laude, in Asian Studies from the University of Santo Tomas, and Theology from the Divine Word Seminary. He has a Master’s degree in Development Management at the Asian Institute of Management and is a member of the International Association of Development Managers.
