Lighting Up South Cotabato

Consuelo Partners with Solar Energy Foundation

In January 28, 2013, Foundation teamed up with Stiftung Solarenergie - Solar Energy Foundation Philippines to supply solar lanterns to the Municipality of Surallah, South Cotabato. These benefited 35 families participating in our Healthy Start program run by the Tribal Leaders Development Foundation, Inc.

Before they had access to these solar lanterns, most families in the area used kerosene-powered gas lamps due to the absence of power supply. The fumes emitted by the gas lamps caused respiratory problems particularly among infants and young children. Through this assistance, families of Surallah now enjoy a steady supply of light without compromising the health of their children as well as their environment.

For the past several years, Consuelo Foundation has been collaborating with various organizations to create a positive environment for children, women and families. This project with Solar Energy Foundation is one of these partnerships.
